SHOP ABILITY, part of DESIGN ABILITY, was a project promoted by Pininfarina Extra S.r.l. and inserted in the Torino 2008 World Design Capital calendar.
The above mentioned project considers the different places where disabled people live their social life such as the city, the supermarket, sport plants and offices, in order to analyze the difficulties met by such people and to develop innovative, functional and engaging design products and concepts, which can also be interesting for and used by non-disabled people (design for all).
The above mentioned project considers the different places where disabled people live their social life such as the city, the supermarket, sport plants and offices, in order to analyze the difficulties met by such people and to develop innovative, functional and engaging design products and concepts, which can also be interesting for and used by non-disabled people (design for all).
Participants have to study and design a functional and innovative-designed “accessible shopping cart/shopping case”, which allows disabled and non-disabled people to shop in supermarkets, moving autonomously and being able to reach all types of exposed products, whatever their collocation into the shelves of supermarkets is.
